Welcome to the Cosmopolis School website. All of us who work and volunteer in our school pride ourselves on caring for each individual child and our family atmosphere. Our students' learning, health, and well-being are important to every staff member. In addition, if you check the WASL score portion of our website, our students' academic achievements are above the state average in almost every category.
Arts are important at Cosmopolis Elementary. We offer music and band. We also have several special theater, song and poetry writing, scientific and other events during the year. Walking down the hall, one will be struck by how creative our students are. Student work is featured on every wall. We also have great support for students with special needs; we provide extra assistance through special education, speech therapy, learning assistance, and Title 1 programs. After school reading and math camp and our summer school programs attract a large number of students.
Parents and community volunteers are a huge part of our day-to-day operation. We have volunteers helping in the classrooms, reading with students, eating lunch with students, working in the library, maintaining our facility, planning special events, and in many other areas. Community volunteers with diverse skills are needed and welcome.
We have a very active and supportive PTSO. Many special events and special purchases are funded by this parent support group. Please join your friends and neighbors at a PTSO meeting. The group meets every second Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the school's staff room.
Families and community members attend our welcome back BBQ, our Veterans' Day assembly, our choir and band concerts, and other events in large numbers.
We have a great facility, which provides ample space to accommodate student learning and special activities for students, staff, and community groups. We have a large, regulation-sized gym, a covered play area, an auditorium, a separate lunchroom, a library, a computer lab, a science room, and two special activity rooms.
